This session is designed for students who are passionate about reading and want to express their love for reading in creative ways. While reading will play a role in what we do during summer book club, it is not the primary focus. Students in grades 4-8 are invited to participate as we engage in hands on projects and activities related to our chosen books. Students will use a book (or books) of their choice to discuss, debate, analyze and create extension projects with. Sessions will take place both indoor and outside (weather permitting). The chosen books will inspire activities like writing your own sequel, blackout poetry, communicating with authors, creating a board game, movie trailers, painting, and more. While creating these projects students will learn reading strategies and skills that will help them in all content areas. The summer book club is designed to be choice based and flexible in order to meet the needs and match the interests of students from all grade levels and abilities. Please come to the session with two unread, parent approved books of your choice.
